Community Events

Popsicles in the Park

Informal meet and greet held at both Ridgewood Park and Welch Park (Jacobs Reserve). This is a great opportunity for new parents to get answers to all their questions from experienced parents and an opportunity for students to reconnect after summer break.

Boo Hoo – Woo Hoo Breakfast

Wipe the tears after sending your babies off to learn or celebrate the return of your kids to school with us. Usually held in the SKR library the first full week of school.  This is a great opportunity to learn about becoming a PTO member.

Grandparents’ Lunch

In honor of Grandparents’ Day, we invite your child’s grandparents to join them for lunch on their designated day. This is a very popular event.  Grade levels are usually split to celebrate on different days to ensure that everyone has a place to sit.  Exceptions can be made if you have multiple children, but we ask that everyone else be courteous and respectful of the rules so that our grandparents feel appreciated.

Red Ribbon Week

Annual campaign to prevent drug abuse. Usually held the third week of October to coincide with the national campaign.  Students will participate in theme related activities during the week.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

We encourage you to join us by showing your appreciation of our teachers and staff at the end of the year. Information will be sent home regarding themes and appreciation ideas.

Staff Appreciation Lunches

Each grade level participates on a different month by volunteering to bring lunch for out teachers and staff. Sign-ups are usually sent home through room parents.

Teacher & Staff Cookie Exchange

Parents bring homemade cookies for teachers and staff to enjoy during the staff development day at the end of the second 9-weeks and start of winter break.

PTO Fundraisers

Ride Spirit Nights

Each month during the school year we hold “Ride Spirit Nights” at local restaurants and businesses. We encourage everyone to wear their Ride shirts and have dinner together.  Each participating business gives a portion of the day/night’s profits from Ride attendees back to Ride PTO.

Ride’s Reading Adventure

This reading-themed fundraiser is held in October. Students participate in reading-based events all around the school – like field day, but with books!  Prior to the event, students collect donations and earn prizes by reaching certain prize levels.  Because we do not use an outside fundraising company, Ride PTO gets to keep 100% of the profits and share those with our teachers and school.

Storytime with Santa

Storytime with Santa is largely a community event for our Ride families, but we do raise funds though the kid’s raffle. Listen to our administrators and teachers read their favorite books, take photos with Santa, and participate in fun crafts.  Activities will vary by year.

Ride Through the Decades

The spring carnival and fundraiser is a fun night for our Ride families. With dunking booths, obstacle courses, bounce houses, face-painting, dancing, and food, it’s hard to fit it all in one night!  The children have fun trying to win raffle prizes and the adults have fun trying to win big at the silent auction.  All profits go to the Ride PTO.
